The most elegant and beautiful Roman square, Navona has always been part of the locals’ lifestyle. Whether it was a stadium hosting all kinds of games and competitions for the entertainment of the Roman upper class almost two thousand years ago or simply a place where people reunite to celebrate various festivities, it is certain that all Romans have a special bond with this historical site.
Our journey will take us on the backstreets of the square, and while we stroll our way on the cobblestone streets, we’ll talk about the stories and legends, the arts and traditions or this magical timeless place.
I have selected some of the best local favorite restaurants offering a vast variety of typical Roman, highest quality food items and a great selection of wines. The tour goes to places own by passionate people who put all of their love for the local culture into their delicious recipes, hidden gems that only locals know of, offering and exclusive best quality experience!
We start with a tasting of pizza, this time Naples style, since it is the original style. We will visit a small place own by a gentleman coming from Naples and we will get an insight on the differences between pizza styles, what makes a great pizza and how to make the best dough.
We then move on to one of the biggest actors on the Roman nightlife scene, a modern place with a vintage look, favorite destination for locals either for a happy hour, after dinner drinks with live music or simply relaxing with a glass of wine and a book. As tradition requires, we will have a happy hour with locally made delicacies such as cheeses and cold cuts paired with beautiful local wine. I also have a surprise tasting for you here!
Dinner is my secret spot and my proudest achievement so far! I can only tell you the owners do not allow organized tours there. Besides us that is! We will taste their traditional local dishes with delicious wine in one of the best-preserved authentic Roman atmospheres in the city…even more valuable given the very central touristy area!
